What year should I start with?

I am following the classical model of education and just now discovered Tapestry of Grace. My oldest is going into 2nd grace and last year we studied ancient history using Story of the World. I would like to start TOG and use it through all 3 cycles but in order for this to work it seems like I should start Year 2 in 2nd grade. Would this be a good place to start even if we haven't done Year 1 with TOG because he will get Year 1 again in 5th grade and then again in 9th grade?
