I've tried SL, WP and HOD. So far, I like HOD the best, but, with baby #5 on the way and hopefully more, combining is going to be essential. I also like the idea of them learning on the same topic.
So, the thing I'd miss most about HOD is their character study in the bible. Like last week, we learned about self control. Read examples of people who did and didn't use self control. During the week, I praised my children for using self control and when they weren't, reminded them to do so.
I also see a lot of stuff on other religions. Is it simply taught so children are aware or is it rather glorified so they gain an unhealthy interest in them?
Also, I really, really like open and go curriculum. How difficult will it be for me to plan out? I'll have and upper and two lower grammar students. That's the main thing I hear against TOG is how teacher intensive the planning is.
Lastly, how American is TOG? I know year 1 wont be. But, as a non American, I'm wondering if the other guides focus heavily on the US or if history from the whole world is taught.
