I've subscribed to a blog run by a Jewish scholar who discusses the Hebrew text of the Old Testament in great detail. Today's post (http://www.aishdas.org/asp/2008/08/heroism.shtml) had some insights that can help a homeschool mom.
Joshua 1:9 says, "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid and do not get discouraged…"
Rabbi Micha Berger writes (http://www.aishdas.org/asp/2008/08/heroism.shtml), "Fear is something we experience when dealing with the unknown, the new. Discouragement sets in after someone tries an activity, and success is evading them."
If your wife needs encouragement, ask yourself whether she is afraid of something she's never tried or discouraged by something she has tried. The answer to both problems is renewed hope in the God who calls us forward. He is the One who told us not to grow weary in well doing, for in due time we shall reap, if we faint not. Gal. 6:9. He is the One who knows the plans He has for us, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give us a future and a hope. Jer 29:11.
The Proverbs 31 woman is "clothed with strength and dignity and she smiles at the days to come." Prov. 31: 25. Clothe your wife with strengh today by helping her focus on the good plans God has for the children He has given you.
