German King of England who didn't speak English??

Who was the King of England who was born in Germany and didn't speak English so they had do all "business" in French? I think he was mentioned in YR 2 Unit 2. Who was he and which unit and week was he taught in?

Hello Sue,

Off the cuff, I think you are referring to George the First, who was awarded the throne of England after Queen Anne died (he was Protestant, and other members of Anne'f extended family were Catholic. Monarch had to be Protestant by law at that point) I can't remember the exact date, but it would have been in the early decades of the 1700s. Check unit 4 of year 2 for him.
