I'm reading over the first couple of weeks preparing to teach (funny how much more attention I pay, now that I'll be teaching a co-op class and not just one daughter), and I can't find reference in assigned readings to a couple of terms listed in the accountability questions in week 2.

I could find no mention of the terms "Third Coalition" or the "Continental System." Did I just miss them? If not, it seems that these questions should be re-worded.

Thanks!

Hi Beth,
Check out p. 35 and 36 in the Teacher's Notes. http://tapestryofgrace.groupee.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Dana,

That wasn't my problem. I already know that the dialectic discussion outline has the answers.

The problem is that the STUDENT is given - on the student activity page in the accountability questions - two questions (out of six) that he can't possibly answer, given his resources. I know, because I was determined to figure it out without looking at the teacher's notes myself, and I looked over every page of the student's reading and couldn't figure out what could be referred to. I didn't want to ask this question and then be told, "Oh, it's at the top of page 242," so I spent quite some time at this.

How frustrating that would be for students, especially in the second week. I would hate to have told my daughter, "It has to be in there. Go back and keep looking!" I thought this was exactly the sort of thing you're trying to keep track of. Is that not the case?

I finally gave up and checked the World Book notes - only one of those terms is listed there (the Continental System). The Third Coalition is only mentioned in the discussion outline, which I checked third.

Hi Beth,
I see what you are saying. That is so disappointing from our view as well as yours! We go through quite a lengthy editing process and it is always a "heart-dropper" when someone finds a problem. So, please accept our apologies!

What this means is that we will post, on the Loom, under "corrections" a new Student Activity Page that you can print up. The students do need to know that terminology however, so that can be part of their lecture.

Thanks SO much for your patience!

Thanks, Dana. I can't imagine how hard it is to put together such a complicated set of documents, all inter-related like this. Please accept my constant stream of corrections as my attempt to help you out, not as my attempt to criticize! I love what Tapestry does and I share your goal to make it as trouble-free as it can be.

Dana, you are terrific to get this correction up so quickly. Thanks for your responsiveness! And thanks for getting the writing overview up early so we can plan!
