I have started setting up a forum to be used as a virtual co-op for TOG starting this fall. I am a new TOGer so I am hoping to find a few to join up that this isn't thier forst year but if now....we can all wade through it together...
So far all I have are the basic forum set-up. I want to try to do this as I feel it's a great opportunity for parents and kids alike involved.
You can get registered and check out the forum here:
http://www.freepowerboards.com/toghomeedcoop/login.php
You will have to wait for admin approval to log in and use, but I will be checking at LEAST every 24 hours for new regs..Keep in mind theres not much to the forum yet..it is a work and progress, I want to get to know what others think is needed before I get all gung ho and do it all without considering the needs of others. But there's enough there for now we can all get to know one another and see if we can get thisd thing off the ground.
You can also e-mail me at simpsonslovejesus@att.net
Thanks

THANK YOU so much for doing this!
I just signed up. I was debating starting one myself, as I don't have access to any homeschool co-ops. I am very excited about it, and will help however I can!
Can't wait to get started!

What do you mean by co-op? Will there be a regular meeting and accountability? There is a forum on the yahoo groups for questions about the curriculum. Are you looking at doing certain weeks together? Rhetoric students?
BTW--This will be our 3rd year with TOG. We haven't done any co-op at this point in time.

Diane-
The best way for your questions to be answered is to go to the forum (I posted the link in my original post) and browse through it. We are officially up and running as of today (July 16). We don't currently have anything posted as far as discussions for D level because we are waiting on a willing parent to get these threads started. Maybe you would be willing if you joined the group. it only requires you to start a few threads one day a week to stir up some discussion among others who are doing the same level as you. Check it out and if you have any other questions please let me know. Thanks!

Hi Diane!
I thought I'd comment on your questions. I'm a Moderator of this virtual co-op.
We will have regularly scheduled chats, both for parents (now) and D level and above children (soon, God willing). We do not, however, want to keep on the same Week plan as everyone else. That would be too difficult. Instead, those who are "behind" others can ask questions, and those who are "ahead" can answer them. One of the best ways to learn is to teach/explain something to someone else!
As for accountability, I think that will be one of our strongest areas. Each week you can post in the the two threads in the Accountability section, for that week. #1 is "What are you planning this week?" and #2 is "What have you accomplished?" This gives us all plenty of room for encouragement, praise, consolation, etc. as we go. The goals that work the best, it is proven, are those that are written out!! Also, you'll have a written record of what you've actually accomplished, to look back on, on those days where you just don't feel like you're making a difference.
In addition to those things, there are discussion topics for all ages for each week, (a work in progress, but we will get there) and each area. There you can post what you've done, or have your children tell is and you type it, or your children can type it.
There's a lot more, too! Those are just the highlights.
Do you go to a small group through your church? It's kind of like that. We're a smaller group of TOGers, working together to encourage each other in a closer, more intimate way than is possible on a large board like this.
I hope that answers your questions! Feel free to join and see for yourself, or ask more.
I would love to participate in this group. However, everytime I try to register for an account it gives me an error message. It keeps telling me the e-mail addresses I put in are already taken. I have tried 4 of them. They are all various accounts for family members. I must not be being nice enough to my computer tonight! Any ideas?
I just registered, I think : )
thank for starting this

Hi,
I just tried to register, and it took me to a "this page cannot be displayed" page, so I went back and tried to register again. Now it's saying that my username and e-mail address are already registered, but it won't let me log in, because it says my username and password are invalid. Yikes! Help! http://tapestryofgrace.groupee.net/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
