Ok, I have every discussion about Math, except for VideoText Algebra. This one is rated high by Cathy Duffy, etc. but...is there anyone on here using it? I really would like an actual users input. Blessings!

My daughter uses Videotext Algebra. She just recently turned 13 and was ready for Algebra 2 but the co-op teacher she had was no longer available. We had her start at the beginning of Videotext algebra just to see how they do things differently from previous teachers. She watched the dvd and then took the tests until she got to new information. This school year she has reviewed all of pre-algebra and algebra and is just now beginning algebra 2. She really likes it. Her brother, on the other hand, is not as self motivated and found the work too difficult. We decided he was just not ready for pre-algebra so we went back to 6th grade math.

We tried it for a little bit, but found it did not have enough practice to reinforce the concepts. My son isn't great at math, so this was a real problem. He did like the video and followed the explanations, but without enough practice, he lost the understanding. We switched to Math-U-See and he did much better; they have several cummulative review pages for each lesson. Their explanations are very clear, too, although without the slick animation of VideoText.
