My family enjoyed The Adventurous Chef: Alexis Soyer by Ann Arnold as an addition to week 20 for lower and upper grammar. It is a true story of a French chef who modernized military cooking for the soldiers during the Crimean War. He did for military nutrition what Florence Nightingale did for hospital care.
