I have been gathering all the information I can about TOG on the last several weeks. I am just about ready to say that I am going to be using TOG next fall with my 3 older children (ages 13, 12 and 10), but I am still trying to figure out several things.
I am not sure if I should order just the curriculum first, and then decide what books to get, or can I make my book choices and order all at the same time? I would like to start our school year in the middle of August. How quickly are the products delivered, and any advice on what I should order first?
From what I see and hear, it is a great curriculum, but also a BIG change for us.
I would appreciate any comments and suggestions.
    Thanks,

    Hey Roseli,
I live in your neck of the woods in Cary. So we're practically neighbors. I'm about to start my second cycle through TOG. My opinion having ordered several years both classic and redesigned is to order the curriculum first and get your list of priority and supplemental books. Then check the list against what you already own and what's at the library. Then decide which books are used enough to warrant a purchase. I have ordered from the bookshelf(TOG's book service) and from Amazon and other on-line services. The speed of delivery varies, but I will say that the orders I have done through the bookshelf may not always be the cheapest, but they have been extremely convenient and fast (both ordering and receiving shipments). Hope this helps. If you have additional questions I work at the Homeschool Gathering Place in Raleigh and you can come (or call) and ask me in person.

I am planning a trip to the Homeschool Gathering next week. I will check to see if you are there.

Welcome Roseli. We are in Holly Springs and starting our first year in TOG (yr1). what year are you doing this year. I keep meaning to get up to Homeschool Gathering Place but haven't made it their yet. I got my curriculum first and then tried to see or review as many of the books as I could before picking and choosing what to buy, what to substitute with something else and what to get at the library. Our dear friend who did yr1 last year already had the book listed noted for what is at the library so that made it easier.

    Hi Joy,
We are doing year 1. I plan to order the curriculum this week, and wait to get the books later. In worst case, I will start school mid Aug,
with math and language, and then start TOG when I am ready.
Do you know about any Yr 1 co-ops? I am about to join a coop in Cary, but it is not Tapestry related.
We have been in NC for just 2 years. I have not been to Holly Springs yet.
    Thanks for the advice.

    Hi Roseli,
A friend and I are doing some together but we both have 1st graders, pre-Ks, and younger so we would be on a different level than you all together. I will check and see if any of the others I know doing it are in yr1, most I know are doing yr2.
