We begin our school year in July, so I am planning now. I will have a 9th grader doing Rhetoric-level work for the first time.
Three papers are assigned for rhetoric literature over the course of the year, as per the "Grading Rhetoric Literature" document in the Loom. For the first, in week 4, the assignment is clearly stated in both student and teacher pages, along with two topic choices and length of the paper.
For the second paper, a literary analysis to span weeks 14-17, the only reference in the curriculum is in week 13's Glance. No suggestions for topics or length of paper are given. For the third paper, I can find no reference at all in the curriculum.
I have Writing Aids and there are excellent resources about the literary analysis and comparison there, but they are quite general.
Am I missing something in the curriculum? Since we're new to the rhetoric level I would find more specific guidelines for these papers extremely helpful.
