Looking for TOGers in central Florida

I introduced myself a few months back, but I am actively seeking any central Florida homeschoolers on the board. I could use some guidance on which homeschool groups are best, any pointers at all. . .I've been homeschooling for 7 years, but we've only been in FL for 2 months. Thanks for any help!

Hi, Tawdra! I am actually in Tampa Bay, but I have an excellent resource for you! go to www.fpea.com - that is the Florida Parent Educators' association. They have great contacts/links to area representatives who can fill you in on co-ops statewide. This organization also hosts a phenomenal convention every May. I don't know of any actual Tapestry co-ops, so let me know if you hear of one!--under the mercy, angela

Hi, Angela, thanks! I went to the FPEA convention in May--my dh was down here for a year before we were, so I had the info. I am not so much looking for co-ops as for support groups; my kids don't know a soul down here, and I am trying to get them connected with other kids. I had a couple of people give me suggestions on groups, but these people weren't Christians and it turned out the groups were pagans.

I've checked the FPEA website before and will probably choose one from that list, but I was hoping to find someone in the area who knew the deal on the best ones!

My husband is on his way to Orlando right now for a final interview with a company out there. We are praying and hoping that we will be there by the 2nd week of October if all goes well. Has it been hard finding a support group? That is one of my biggest worries because I have such a great one here in San Antonio. We will know for sure on Monday what our plans are. Keep me posted if you don't mind as to what you find. I'll keep my eys and ears open too

I haven't actually found one yet, although I am leaning toward one called Amy's Christian Homeschool Network (http://home.earthlink.net/~achsn/index.html) . I am in Central Florida - East Orlando to be exact. Did you find a group to your liking?? I use to be in Amy's, but, there activities were too far west for me. (Emily is a GREAT gal!). I know you wrote this a while back, so, give a holler if you are looking for more groups. Where are you in Central florida?

Hi, Lisa! I am in northwestern central FL, in Apopka, on the edge of Orange County. I joined Amy's too, but found all their activities are too far away--we've yet to do even one. I joined an "inclusive" online group, but haven't done anything there either. . sigh. . .still looking!
