While my UG dc use TOG's lap book CD's, I have found a great lap book resource for the D level. Scholastic publishes a series called Hands-On History. For Yr 2, there are Explorers, Colonial America, and American Revolution. There is also a Pioneers book that would go with yr 3. These often have students engage in more D level skills, such as analyzing cause/effect of events, compare/contrast, etc. The student needs to photocopy patterns and follow instructions for constructing the various booklets. These are ideal for D level who still enjoy the lap book process but are ready for a little more meat. Here is a link to the Colonia America book:

P.S. Last I checked, the Explorers was no longer available, but if you do a search, there are a few places selling the e-book version now.
