Hands on Map of the Nile

Hi. Somewhere in all my countless hours of reading online to prepare for this year, I saw something about making a map of the Nile with sand, dirt, and water, and planting grass seeds. Does anyone have directions? I am great at following directions, but I can't figure out how to keep the water in the river! It overflows too much and makes it a big mudpie. My boys love it, but it is not working!

Hi,
The Story of the World activity book suggests using a double layer of aluminum foil as a riverbed liner, making sure the foil goes over the end of the container you're using at each end. I haven't tried it myself, but I hope that helps!
