I'm wondering if there is an error in the Week 12 Poetics reading assignment. The assignment chart shows that the students should read II.B.1-4, which is all about poetry. Should they be assigned II.A instead, which is about stories?

Since we're still in the middle of Les Mis, it seems like this might be a typo...?

I see now (after investigating further), that some of the Lit questions deal with Hugo's use of imagery in his prose, making it "poetic prose", so I'm assuming that this would be the reason for that particular assignment in Poetics.

Can someone (Christy?) clarify that for me, just so I can be sure? Thanks so much - and I know y'all are probably swamped right now. We love all of you!

Hi Marcie! We are indeed swamped---with prayers, encouragement, purchases, and donations. We keep looking at each other and saying "This is just like the end of 'It's a Wonderful Life'!" We can't thank God enough, and we can't thank you enough!

To answer your specific question, yes, that is why the students are directed to read or review the section on poetry. We wanted to take some time in Week 12 to notice the distinctions between poetry and prose and show how Hugo brings his poetic instincts into his prose. :-)

    HTH!

What a great comparison, Christy! I hadn't thought of "It's a Wonderful Life" in relation to what y'all are experiencing - probably because I'm not on the other end of things, getting to see what God is doing in the same way that all of you are seeing it. But I know what God has done in our family here, as we have talked about our hopes for the Body of Christ stepping up and demonstrating the kind of love and support that we should always show our brothers and sisters in Christ when they are experiencing need of any kind. How exciting to begin to get a sense of the way God is indeed answering our prayers!

Thanks for the clarification on the Poetics assignment in the midst of the hubbub. We are really enjoying the current study of Les Mis!
