Sorry, new here, I posted a question in another forum, not realizing there was one dedicated to science.

I'm wondering what you all do for science. What curricula do you like? And do you follow the recommendations (such as those in WTM) to keep science and history together?

I'm considering TOG this year. I'm thinking of going back to yr 3 (though we should be moving on to yr 4) because, well, last year was a loooooong less than enticing year. And if I do yr 3 now and take 2 yrs to do yr4, that puts my Eldest starting over in the ancients in 9th grade, which would be ideal.

Anyway, back to science...
We have kept the two together as laid out in WTM (we've used SOTW 1-3 thus far for history and have just 'gotten by' with science stuff, library books, that sort of thing). So, yr 3 science *would* be chemistry...but we actually covered that pretty well and I do not see the need to repeat that right now.

I was thinking go ahead into Physics. They've been glancing at library books this spring/summer, at least. Maybe longer. But we've not actually *done* anything, they've just read here and there. So, I was thinking Physics this year and we could even carry it over into next year, when we start TOG yr 4. Then with my plan to do TOG yr 4 for two years, we could then get a head start on biology in that second year. And carry on with that when we get to the ancients that following year.

Does any of that make sense? I'm hoping it at least makes a bit more sense to you folks than it does to some of my friends who haven't a clue about classical education, WTM, TOG or anything of the sort.

So, in summary....
LOL

What would you suggest for TOG yr 3 science?

Oh, ages might be helpful eh?
Eldest - 11 - 6th grade - UG/D (this will be our transition year)
Yogurt - 9 - 4th grade - UG
Nugget - almost 7 - 2nd grade - LG

*whew*
Ok
If you made it through all of that...wow...you rock!! (and thank you!)
