    Ok Amy

Lois has the 2008 printing of TOG RD Y2-I have the digital version. I have had some time to compare the Poetry Analysis and the Loom that I have - there are some differences but there are also many similarities. I believe all the info is in my Loom but since its a work in progress our pages and actual print differ. Typically this wouldn't be a problem but because of running a co op we are a little "off" I think she is going to print us off some of the pages and we will be all together then.
Thanks for your help though my friend

    Hey Sharie!!

It sounds like I have the same edition as Lois...mine says "c2007,2008 Second Printing".

I'm not a computer genuis so I haven't dared to upgrade to DE.

Have fun at co-op...miss you guys/gals!!

For what it's worth, CoastalGal, I'm not even CLOSE to being a computer genius, and I love my DE. :-) The tech staff at LP help me keep it going, and other than that it's really point and shoot. Of course I'm on the go a lot, so it's just fantastic for me to have it on my computer.

Sharie, that strikes me as odd. If you have the 2nd printing and others who have the 2nd printing have that chart, then I'm pretty sure you SHOULD have that chart. I'd go ahead and check with the LP tech staff; it's possible that the wrong version of the Loom got onto a couple of discs and that you need a replacement disc.

I should clarify...I have the 2nd printing of Y2 Redesigned PRINT Edition ONLY.

I cannot find the charts that Sharie is talking about...but I have the same edition as the teacher in her co-op.

    Hi,
This is our first year with TOG and I have Year 2 Print and DE.(Purchased July 2010) I have read countless posts and found them helpful but this one just left me confused.
I cannot find the Poetry Analysis pdf in any of my material either. I have the loom on line and only have the five topics listed by Sharie under Lit Helps.
My Rhet daughter did a wonderful analysis of a Shakespeare sonnet for Wk 11 but the outline was in the SAP's.
Is this pdf along the same vein? If so I would love to find it.
Can someone direct me to it? I have spent quite some time looking have come up empty.

Thank you in advance for you help.

    Blessings,
It is only on the Loom under "literature helps" for the 1st edition. I have a hyrid y2 print + DE so was able to check all 3 "versions" (1st edition, 2nd edition, & DE). It most definitely is NOT on the 2nd edition Loom CD nor in the DE Loom section -- at least I can't find it in either!

    Hope this helps clarify.

It is nice to know that I am not quite as lost in finding things on DE as I thought I was.
But this brings up a question. Why is this pdf and secton VI in Poetics no longer availabe in updated versions? Are there other TOOLS for poetry anaylsis somewhere else in the program? Or was this an oversite as things were updated?
Having graduated three students and feeling literature and poetry analysis wasone of my weak areas (which we struggled to work out together in their college courses), I purchased TOG because I felt it wss strong in this area.(Hope it will help with the drop in a bucket idea)
The SAP I mentioned in Y2 Wk11 was helpful but still made me feel I was missing something.
    AM I missing something?
    Thanks

    Dear Ladies,

This HAS been confusing, and unfortunately I added to the confusion in my earlier post because I thought you were asking for something else. :-/ I'm so sorry! Let me attempt to clarify:

    1. When we first wrote Year 2, we found that we needed a document to help with poetry analysis. So, we wrote the Poetry Analysis document and included it in the Loom. That was Y2 FIRST Printing.

    2. Later, the Poetry Analysis document was folded into the document that became Poetics (our handbook that covers drama, prose, and literary analysis in general, as well as poetry).

    3. So, all the useful MATERIAL from the Poetry Analysis document wound up in Poetics, and Poetics is what the Y2 SECOND Printing folks have.

    4. Thus, if your co-op teacher has the Y2 FIRST printing and asked students to print out pages from the Poetry Analysis document, then those with the SECOND printing will be confused, because they don't have the Poetry Analysis document (though they do have Poetics, which contains everything important from the Poetry Analysis document).

    5. The solution is still the same: If there is a "hybrid" co-op where families with first and second printings of Year 2 are trying to work together, and the teacher wants all her students to read selected pages that are not available to some of the students because they have a different printing than the one she is using, then we authorize that teacher to make copies of those pages for her students, provided that each student owns some version of Year 2.

Clear as mud? Hope so! Please let me know if you have more questions! Finally, I just want to say how sorry I am for the confusion, not only here online, but also for families who are trying to use the different printings of Y2 in the same co-op. :-/ God bless you and grace you to deal with these discrepancies! I wish I could smooth them all away for you, but unfortunately it is just the nature of the beast---as we continue to improve the curriculum, gaps do appear between older and newer versions. I know you don't want us to stop improving, and I'm grateful that you are willing to work with those gaps!

    Christy Somerville
