I got a chuckle listening to Pop-Quiz week 10. Scott Sommerville sings the "Erie Canal" and it is cute and well done! Thanks for the smile.

Ditto here-we enjoyed that! My husband also sent me a link yesterday to a NY Times article about the Erie Canal which is pretty interesting-and very timely. Check it out!

Aw, shucks!
Actually, this comes at a good time... I'm working on the week with the Alamo and I just chickened out of singing the Ballad of Davey Crockett. I'll let the moms decide... should I sing or not?
Please sing! It adds some zip to our studies!
Before we knew that the pop quiz had the song on it, I did a google search and it brought up Bruce Springsteen in concert singing the Erie Canal. It's quite animated, and my younger children thought it was a scream. Though they'd never been introduced to "the Boss" before, and I doubt he meant his performance to be educational, they learned the whole song by watching it repeatedly and laughing hysterically.
So.... when you do the Davy Crockett, maybe you could sing with a hoarse voice and a grimace....??? LOL

I just wanted to say WE LOVED IT! I grabbed the audio file from the POLLING question, and used it to tie up our week (classic) of JQA and Erie Canal. Our daughter (age 11) said, "He's really getting into it!" while she was listening to Scott do his rendition of FIFTEEN MILES song! We've really enjoyed this week and it was nice to have this little audio file to finish things up! We don't usually have the luxury since we're using Classic right now, so this was extra special!
