Thread: Question about buying used

  1. #11
Hi Kim - I guess I would just like to second something Marcia touched on. I have been using my used printed copy of Year 1 this year - as is. I have had no problem finding out of print books at the library or on one of the many sites out there. I have not felt the need for anything upgraded at this time as I have been able to locate all of the resources I need - so far. I am like you in that I like to have a printed copy in hand, and just plan to work off the printed copy I have. A coop is not something in my plan at this time, and I only use TOG for UG and LG at this time. I love that the option of upgrading to DE is out there too - for the future. So for me, right now, this works. I agree that it may be a little stressful trying to stitch old and new together right away. I think you need to consider if you plan to use it in a coop, if you are okay with using the printed copy as it, if you are okay with just trying things out with the printed copy (with the option to upgrade to DE in the future after you have tried using TOG), or if you think you could go with the DE only edition and print things up as you need (which is really a tremendous price if you are okay with working from a screen - it lasts forever, and is always current with the ability to get the older stuff too). I guess those were a few of the things I contemplated before my decision to buy used.

    Blessings - Lynn

If you want to start in February, I'd buy the used copy and then invest in whatever supplements you want new. You can still use the website, and you can have access to the Book Updates Chart.

When/as the new Year 1 comes out, you can get it then, but why not wait four years? If I know anything about anything in this biz, it's that I don't know where we'll be in four years in terms of technological deliveries/editions of TOG!

    Happy I can help!
    Blessings,
    Marcia

Thank you both very much! Yep, I agree, never know...I can't even think past this week, it is difficult for me planning a year because I know in our lives things get changed up pretty fast.

I think I made this way to hard...thank you again for walking through this with me!

    Many blessings,

    Kim

Well....HELLO again! Okay, I really am getting a headache, hope I am not passing that on..ha!

Would it be unwise to get a 2006 vs 2010? I assume little things were changed over the years to make 2010 the smarter choice even if the 2006 were much cheaper?

    I am done now..really!

I would go for the 2010. Book lists alone are worth it.

    You're most welcome: good luck!
    Blessings,

The book updates are no longer available for people who bought used. "Beginning with our next update in the spring, these Book Updates will only be available to you if you purchased your curriculum directly from Lampstand Press. "

I am sorry to barge in... alas, I feel the need to ask if I should send my used copy back as soon as it arrives in the mail. I purchased a used set with the promise that it is the most current edition and that I could register it and get book updates. If this is not correct, please let me know. I appreciate it!

This is a recent policy change: http://www.tapestryofgrace.com/company/newsletter.php#4. There are several similar changes in that newsletter, so you'll want to continue reading down from that heading.
