The Nutcracker – Walden, Daniel

This book was originally on the reading list then replaced but there is no record of it in the reading charts. My first printing lists it. The book is beautiful with huge pictures. The main difference between this and the current recommendation by Susan Jeffers is the length of text. The Jeffer’s Nutcracker is much abbreviated so the reading time is shorter but the story is also missing chunks of detail. You can compare the two on Amazon’s Look Inside feature. The literature worksheet revolves around the word NUTCRACKER so it doesn’t matter what version is used.

Leaves from a Child’s Garden of Verses – Stevenson, Robert Lewis

This edition is not the TOG edition. It contains 50 poems from the Garden of Verses. All but one poem on the worksheets is contained so it would be a suitable substitute. It’s a large hardcover with beautiful art work.
