    Newbie Help! Rhetoric Year 3

We just started year 3 with my 10th grader. I've read most of the stuff I'm supposed to but I'm lost. Is she supposed to do all the reading before being able to answer the questions/do the assignments? When the guide says, "Research", does that mean research using the books assigned or with outside books. Where are the literary terms she is supposed to learn listed? I feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle that I need to put it all into action! Thanks for your help in advance! E

    Hi,
It might be helpful to have the questions alongside the book and answer as she goes. I found that to be the easiest way for my kids. Regarding the word "research," it typically will mean outside research, either using an encyclopedia, library, or our online links. (Our online links can be found when you click on Tapestry of Grace in the navigation bar, then Year 3, then you'll see buttons in the far right with subject titles.) For the literature, show her where the Loom is (either on your CD or via DE). On the Loom, she'll find Poetics, which acts as a literature handbook and has definitions toward the end.

Be sure and read the Unit Introduction, as it has lots of information for beginners there. Feel free to email though, if you have other questions.

    Blessings, and welcome aboard!

Thank you so much!! I didn't know about the online resources but I did find the poetics and frameworks on the loom. My daughter is really loving it and is sharing the connections she is making before we even get to discussion time. I think the further in we get, the easier it will all become. Emily
