    Just a different perspective...the book isn't so much about romance as it is a commentary on the plight of women during that time frame. If when you present the assignments you focus on the characters from a biblical perspective and talk about the differences for women now and then...view it more politically, your son might find it a bit more palatable.I wouldn't recommend skipping it outright though. It is not a waste of paper kind of book.

    We have not broached the reading of P&P yet but my boys, ages 16 and 11, both really enjoy both the 2 hour and 5 hour versions of the movie. If modesty is a concern the 5 hour version is better in that regard and there is much more time for character development and catching the nuances in the plot.
