Parts of Speech: How much detail?

For level 1 in Writing Assignments how much detail is needed for the parts of speech.

Do I just teach:
Noun = person, place or thing

Or do I need to include common, collective, proper, feelings, etc. as well?

If yours are 4 and 6 years old, I'd stick with the most basic. This is an assignment that reappears in the Writing assignments so as they get older, add detail. If you have a secondary grammar program let that set the detail level.

We use School house rock for the most basic definitions.
