Which Year do I start with?

My kids are in public school this year. We hope/pray/plan to homeschool next year. My oldest two will be in 3rd grade and 2nd grade next year. Does it really matter which year to begin? "Start at the very beginning..." Or start with the area of greatest interest they have at the moment? I think the latter is what I read (somewhere?), but was not sure.

    Hi,

You can begin in any year that you would like with Tapestry of Grace. Some of our customers like to start at the beginning and study history in chronological order, while others like to start with an era of history that is of great interest to them as a family. Either way you chose to implement Tapestry is fine when you have younger students. This is one of the great things about our curriculum. It is flexible!

Please let me know if there is any way I can assist you in the future. We welcome any questions you have.

    Hi Sharon,
Thanks for writing back! I know what you mean about chronological order and that is what I would like to do... But I can't help but think that the younger kids will be jumping in wherever the older ones are when they end up starting school, so at the end of the day, perhaps that is not that big of a deal. You know what I mean? Also, is there some kind of timeline or something similar that can be utilized for just such instances when/if kids pop in and begin studying at a different point in the Year plans??
    Thanks again!

    Hi there,
Yes, you are right that at the end of the day it's not that big of a deal. That's what I did with my kids. We started with Year 2, and when my youngest jumped in, I believe we were in Year 4. And yes, there is a time line in each week-plan that the dialectic students work on from year to year so that they see how everything flows together.
