    Link for Transparencies

    Hello
I am on amazon trying to buy transparencies for our first year doing the transparency project. There are a lot of options and very few that say 10m as TOG suggests getting... Any advice or links?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

A suggestion that will work is getting a different thicknesses of transparencies or even buying page protectors and letting students label the different areas on the map. If the correct thickness of transparencies is not used the printing will be off on the transparencies. This can happen even if the correct thickness is used as the transparencies can shift while being printed.

The objective of the assignment is to let students print a base-map and put it on the bottom of the stack. Each week thereafter you will use a transparency (or a page protector) and put it in the binder on top of the base map. By the time several weeks have gone by you will have several layers of transparencies on top of the original base map.

    Example:

Ancient Egypt is base map. Print this map and put it in a binder.
2nd layer (on top of the base map) students will label the transparency (or page protectors) with the locations of rivers in Ancient Egypt.
3rd layer students will place a transparency (or page protector) on top of the last transparency (or page protector) that they put in the binder last week. This week they will label the pyramids that were built in Ancient Egypt.
4th layer place a new layer on top of the last layer and label major cities.

You will continue to build your maps in this way until the transparency project is completed for the unit. You will only pick one base map to use for each unit. I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

You can also look on the Loom under the heading "Project Helps" to find information on the "Transparency Project." This will give you some great visuals and examples of how this assignment will look as you work through it. I hope this helps.
