Thread: How to do Rhetoric with 1/2 credit for literature

  1. #1
My 9th grade ds is not interested in literature and all of the history and literature reading in TOG (or any curriculum I'm sure). I read another post..."ok, so what is high school?". Very good info. I looked at the Loom about HS rhetoric but I haven't read all of it yet. I'm printing it now. I want to have my ds's 9th grade English one credit include literature. He is also taking a writing class (Writer's Workshop) with Memoria Press. I plan to do Analytical Grammar with him this year and next. I'm hoping to do some vocab and spelling too, but we'll see. So, how do alter the rhetoric literature for a 1 credit 9th grade English course that also includes writing and grammar (and maybe spelling and vocab)?

    Hi,
Have you seen the credits documents for each Year-Plan on the Loom? This will be the most helpful place for you to start.

Also, just so you'll know, in college, the required "English" credit (in most colleges) is primarily made up of literature and writing. They call it different things at different schools, but having a solid high school background is VERY helpful.

    Blessings,

like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.
I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!"
