Thread: Scaled Back TOG Plan for Dialectic

  1. #1
We love TOG but have found the pace to be too fast for us to dig deeper into the topics. My daughter will be in 9th grade next year, and I feel that it's necessary to slow down and explore some topics with greater depth. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations? Thoughts?

Your help will be so much appreciated.

How about a radical idea? Try using the R level materials for more depth and slowing the pace down if needed.

What you'll want to give some thought to is what topics in the four years are absolutely essential that your daughter cover before she graduates from high school. If you are taking significantly longer to study a period of history you'll have trim part of the four year plan. You'll want to make a plan based on covering those topics. Some families might study Renaissance history and then move to the American Revolution and then the Civil War while others might spend time on ancient history instead.
