Government

-
By way of "catch up" and for your reference this year, especially in introductory weeks, Primary Source documents: an exhaustive site for teacher and older students. Begins at 500 BC and keeps going. Organizing principle is "documents that pertain to Early American history. Obviously, a broad view of our "roots!
-
Another massive site: teacher's use, probably, initially, although you'll use it to find sites for your children. If they want to read the originals, here they are!
-
All ages will love this site on US Government. This site transcends unit boundaries. It's GREAT!
-
Sandy has recommended "Congress for Kids" for use in Year 3. Once at the site, you can put your cursor on "Tour of the Federal Government" and below it will appear a host of topics from the 13 colonies on up through the amendments. At each webpage you can read a bit about the topic and then click on "Show What You Know" for a reinforcement activity. If you click on "Play More" it takes you to a long list of links for other related activities including games, quizzes, maps, puzzles, word searches, flashcards, etc...Nice for adding a little variety!
-
Mostly for the dialectic and rhetoric students: It's a teacher's main page for AP History, Government and Economics courses and an 8th grade Social Science course. But she has gathered together a lot of great information! At the main site, just click on her "links" or "quizzes" section under each course heading. Too much to list here, but there is plenty that will be useful.
